6 decades of history

Jørgen Longem joined former Norwegian army officer colleagues Rolf Palmstrøm and Bjørn Rørholt in Teleplan in the late 1950’s. Together the founders went through the inevitable ups and downs of a start up, and gradually built a renowned and well respected business entity with projects in Norway and abroad.

6 decades of history

The start of a unique history

Some claim that the adventure began with the invention of an electronic encryption machine that was a revolution in itself. Accepted as a NATO standard in the 1960’s.

Cold war technology and the start of a lifetime partnership

In the 1960’s Teleplan was a technical consultant to NATO during the construction of a massive surveillance system along the iron curtain from Northern Norway to Turkey.

Teleplan has served the armed forces of Norway and allied countries for more than six decades.
As our most loyal customer group, with an ever present need to stay at the forefront of technology, they keep us vigilant.

To rise to the occasion

In 1994 Saudi Telecom Company launched “TEP6” – one of the largest telecom projects ever completed.

Our international branch Norconsult Telematics assisted the operator with technical consultancy, project management and supervision services with a staff peaking at more that 600 professionals.

Our ability to mobilize fast and with high quality may stand out as an unoffical world record. In a modest term we like to think of it as an example of rising to the occasion.

From information overflow to life-saving intelligence

With today’s advanced sensors we can collect more information than we can ever utilize.

Detailed planning, shared use of assets and world class analysis can deliver essential intelligence based on the bits and pieces.

This is why nine allied nations established a joint project with the aim of improving commanders’ situation awareness.  One of the key outcomes was Teleplan’s ICMT.

This solution provides capabilities to develop, receive, manage and track Priority Intelligence Requirements.

Currently fielded at six major NATO headquarters, several allied national HQs and an increasing number of users at operational and tactical level, ICMT is a success story.

A shortcut from the keyboard to the battlefield

In 2006 Teleplan was tasked to develop a “Forward Air Controller and Navigation System” for the Norwegian Special Forces. This was an urgent operational requirement, as the Special Forces were on standby for deployment to a large-scale international operation. In a few months, the system was tested and fielded based on a unique collaboration between the end-users and the software developers.

Today the ‘FACNAV’ system solution, has grown into a complete Battlefield Management System, in use by thousands of professional soldiers in several allied countries.

Police and homeland security

We believe in the art of combination:
To combine the very best of operational expertise with professional consultants, system architects, engineers and software developers has been a recurring recipe. In 2012 police officers joined the Teleplan project team for the development of NORA, a command and control system to support Norwegian police operations and emergency responders.

Later the system has been fielded in several other European countries.

Teleplan Consulting played a major role in the planning and construction phase of the Norwegian digital  emergency services network from 2001 to 2011.

Artificial intelligence will save lives

If you can hear the sound of a gunshot, Triangula will detect and position it. Triangula uses advanced artificial intelligence (AI) to position gunshot, identify weapon and find gunshot direction

The system can be deployed in minutes by installing the Triangula Scout app on three or more mobile phones.

The detection range for a rifle in open terrain is up to 2 kilometers.
Triangula typically positions the shooter within 25 meters at a range of 500 meters.
A shooter is mapped within 4 seconds.

This unique solution is developed by Triangula innovators supported by Teleplan.
